Nose Brown sugar topped banana bread and rich sweet cream. The proof cuts through the scent but only mildly. After resting, a slight oiled leather aroma makes its way through. Whispers of vanilla bean and clove.
Palate An outstanding cascade of dark chocolate and coffee is immediately noticeable. The feeling in the mouth is syrupy, and as it washes over, some sweeter flavors break through: Caramel, cake, and custard balance out the darker notes.
Finish The swallow is smoky which perfectly rounds everything out. This allows some of the palate notes to linger. Black pepper and various baking spices make an appearance at the very end.
Story Bright-eyed constitution and the youthful sense of invulnerability. You stand at the basin of a roaring waterfall. You’ll climb to the top and miles beyond, but for now, even the worst gas station coffee serves to warm your blood. You won’t forget this feeling, the moment before an adventure you’re not prepared for. Perhaps that necessary inconvenience is what gives the present moment its substance.
