Nose A spiced apple aroma comes through but it is overpowered by an acrid scent, like damp paper. Subtle plum and honey break through after resting. A surprisingly shallow aroma.

Palate Nutty with a short burst of rye flavor. Oak wood and sunflower seeds are the most notable flavors. A very dark caramel flavor comes through on the swallow. It is hot on the tongue and gums. 

Finish The nuttiness persists through a long, oaky finish. The finish is about as hot as the palate. Spiciness comes through in the form of black pepper, cayenne, and tannins. It ekes out a sharp tobacco flavor at the conclusion.
